Mentally electrifying.
Theatre of the highest quality.
Kristin Linklater

Founded in 2012 by Ewan Downie and Anna Porubcansky, Company of Wolves creates visionary theatre, leads transformative training, and is working to build the next generation of theatre-makers.

Our work is a space for creativity and compassion, where audiences and artists can become more alive, more resilient, more empathetic and more connected.

Company of Wolves was founded after a long immersion in European theatre practices, including six years with Poland’s legendary Song of the Goat Theatre. Our laboratory process is unique in Scotland.

We believe everyone has a right to see high quality work, and that experimental doesn’t have to mean difficult. In more than thirteen years, we’ve brought our work the length and breadth of Scotland -- to dozens of village halls and community spaces in remote and rural areas, islands and outposts, as well as major theatres.

And theatre isn't just the performances. Theatre needs dedicated training for the people who make the work, and a resilient sector to support it. We teach new generations of artists in higher education, run tailored artist support schemes, faciliate wellbeing workshops for the wider public, and host events to help connect and strengthen the Scottish theatre community.

Theatre is a way to connect with the world, and we believe it should be available to anyone who feels its pull. We prioritise supporting and working with artists from backgrounds under-represented in the arts, and work hard to provide bursaries for all of our events to make sure there’s a way anyone can get involved, no matter their circumstances.

Your support helps us make daring new theatre, support artists, and deliver transformative workshops, especially for people facing financial or systemic barriers in Scotland.

Sound like your kind of thing? Join our Wolf Pack.

With your help, we can keep doing all of this.

This year, for the first time, we've joined some of the best companies across Scotland as a regularly funded organisation. This vital support from Creative Scotland provides a stable foundation for our programme between 2025-2028. However, like so many Scottish organisations, the funds are not enough to deliver the full ambitions of our programme. That's where you come in.

We are building a community of regular supporters, our very own Wolf Pack. You can join us by making a single donation, or by supporting us from as little as £5/month. Together, we can make a difference.

Make a one off donation or set up a regular payment.

We believe in experimentation, inclusion, process, collaboration, and community—and we’re here to change theatre for the better.

The most growth I’ve had as an artist in years.

Company of Wolves have reinvigorated my joy in being a creative and lifted my eyes back into the bigger picture of the work I want to make and why.

This placement has given my practice as a theatre-maker more on-paper legitimacy as a career path, and recognition to myself that I’m on the right path for me.
